This email contains important information regarding the upcoming Downtime for our Digital Certificate Product and the change in Certificate Signing Request (CSR) or Public Key Generation post the downtime.
On account of the Maintenance Downtime announced by thawte, the Digital Certificate Product will undergo a Downtime as mentioned below:
Maintenance Window:
Date: June 27, 2010
Time: 5:00 AM - 11:00 AM GMT/UTC
Duration: 6 hours
Affected Systems: Digital Certificate Enrollment, Reissue, Renewal & Management.
Please Note: This outage shall have no impact on the working of your pre-issued Digital Certificates.
Change in CSR/Public Key Generation
After the above downtime, all Certificate Signature Requests (CSR) or Public Keys generated from the Web Servers, will need to be signed with 2048-bit private key as opposed to the current 1024-bit private key.
For Certificates issued and installed BEFORE the downtime
The certificates will continue to function seamlessly without any change required from your end.
For Certificates issued and installed AFTER the downtime:
If your Customer's website is hosted with us, no additional step will be required at your end for the above mentioned change in CSR or Public Key generation. This is because we will be installing the new thawte Intermediate CA certificate on all of our Web Hosting servers.
However, if your Customer's site is NOT hosted with us, you will need to ensure that your Customer's Web Host has installed the new thawte Intermediate CA certificate for the respective type of Digital Certificate he has purchased from you.
